Those kittens probably would have looked a lot like the one in the picture. I mean, their momma looked like just a bigger version, and their coloring was already starting to take on that calico look even before birth. It was one of the saddest, most intriguing things I've ever had to witness.
Let me back up. This cat was sick already, but for some reason, the people that brought it in today decided that because she was a feral cat, they wanted to have her vaccinated and spayed, and because she was pregnant, to go ahead and perform a kitty abortion so there weren't more out there to be a problem. On one hand, I see where Miss Kitty-killer is coming from. I watched the feral cats that used to reside outside my house raise tons of babies and occasionally one or two of their babies would disappear. Either they died from lack of proper food, another animal killed them, they wondered onto the road and were hit, or whatever... either way... the momma cat would pace the area for days and meowed constantly looking for her babies. It's not right, and it's heartbreaking... even when you aren't a fan of cats.
Had these little kittens been born in my presence I would have ended up trying to give them a home until I could figure out somewhere else for them to go. And I have my hands full enough with two dogs that have the non-stop energy of a five year old child. Idk what the point of this post was. I'm sad, but I'm full of wonder because I'd never seen a procedure like that... Just... Idk.
