My parents are amazing people. They have stood behind me in everything I've done in my life even when I have not gone about it in the right way. Their relationship has helped me realize what I want in my own marriage and they've held my hand and let me cry through every failed relationship and heartbreak.
But of my parents are from Oklahoma. My mother originally moved there when she was small from California, but she spent the majority of her life in the same town as my dad. Being two years apart, they had mutual friends thanks to my dad's older brother and the fact that they went to the same school. They ended up working at a factory together where they officially met and started their relationship.
After all the trials and tribulations of their marriage, they've lasted 24 (almost 25 now) years of marriage, not to mention how long they were together before that faithful wedding day.
My dad has been in the military as long as I can remember. He actually joined a short while after I was born (his excuse being he couldn't find a babysitter.) My mom, however, has held every job that I can think of. She's worked every position in fast food all the way to management, been a nurse, receptionist, housekeeper, personal assistant, and quite a few others. She's not afraid of work. I hope to have inherited that from her. Thanks to my dad's background with the military, I think it set me for a life as an Army wife. It's the only life I know.
They've raised my brother and I in the best way they ever could. While there were issues growing up, as there are in any family, I couldn't imagine having a better set of parents.
Randall and Tandy are my parents. They're everything I hope to be, and the best parents I could have ever wished for.
